Frequently asked questions
How much do one of your guitars cost? Well it all depends on the instrument. But to make a long story short, Archtops are typically in the (CAN)$3000-5000 range, whereas Steel-Strings and Electrics usually go for a tad cheaper. I agree that it's definitely more money than what one would normally pay for a typical mass-produced instrument but keep in mind that what you're getting is a lot more: high end and well-seasoned tone woods, top quality hardware and components and of course, a unique design that, I guarantee, will make you and your instrument stand out in a crowd. So, more money yes, but substantially more bang for the buck! Are they all really "one of a kind" ? Yup! They all are. How do I order one ? The first step is to contact me by email, and to let me know what you're interested in. Then usually follows a series of emails or phone conversations where all aspects of the project are discussed. Once we both agree on the instrument design and components, I'll let you know how much it would cost. If you agree, a deposit of 30% is required to start working on your instrument. How long is it going to take for you to build me one ? 6-8 months is a typical delivery time, but it is often less (depending on how busy I am and/or how complex is the instrument to build). Do you offer any warranty? All my instruments are guaranteed for life to the original owner. See below. Warranty"This guitar is warranted to the original owner against defects in materials and workmanship for my life as an active luthier. This warranty does not cover damage due to normal wear and tear, abuse, neglect, extremes of temperature or humidity, or natural disaster. Periodic maintenance is the responsibility of the owner and is a condition of warranty. J.P. Laplante, upon notice of any defect, will repair or replace, at his option, any defective part or material. Purchaser shall assume and pay the cost of all shipping and postage charges of the repaired guitar"
How can I get in touch with you? Either through email at jlaplante9@cogeco.ca, or by phone at (613)544-8944.
